Lin Cheng Wei's Award-Winning Design Redefines the Concept of Working Spaces

The inspiration behind Dream Lab is to redefine the concept of working spaces. Lin Cheng Wei has ingeniously incorporated elements of a home into the office environment. The design includes areas analogous to the entrance hall, living room, sitting room, open kitchen, and a recreation area, thus infusing a sense of comfort and familiarity into the workspace.

Dream Lab is unique in its design and layout. The office space corresponds to the playful form of the Taipei New Horizon Building, where it is located. The interior design follows the curvy windows, allowing users to navigate through the lights and shadows, creating a dynamic and engaging environment. The absence of solid walls and the use of materials like grey glasses and steels establish visionary divides, creating layered spaces and defining invisible walls.

The realization of Dream Lab was a challenging task. The building's non-square interior and the need to comply with fire regulations required innovative solutions. The design team successfully overcame these challenges by inviting a lot of natural light from outside to inside, using glass boxes and metal nets materials instead of solid walls, and offsetting at least half of the missing ceiling volume.

The Dream Lab project was completed in 2015. It is a testament to Lin Cheng Wei's commitment to creating spaces that balance efficiency and happiness.
